Konkyhlie consisted of four young musicians from Copenhagen and the older, now deceased saxophonist Christian Kyhl.
The music is all improvised and moves between the beautiful and the ugly, the wild and the sensitive, the abstract and the plain.

Band Bio:

Christian Kyhl was very active in the Copenhagen music scene and played with both younger and older musicians. An example of a collaboration with the younger was the band later called Konkyhlie which started with guitarist Taus Bregnhøj-Olesen, bassist Asger Thomsen and Christian Kyhl. It was later expanded to include drummer Jeppe Justesen and tuba player Kristian Tangvik.
Christian was ill with throat cancer right from the start of the collaboration and as his illness eventually became worse, they felt a strong urge to record what they were playing. After they had played together for almost a year and was in the process of recording, Christian was told that he needed to get an operation. An operation which had been talked about for a while, but which he did everything he could to postpone, as it would mean that he had to breathe through a valve in his throat and thus also mean the end of his saxophone playing. The whole band was very depressed by this news and saw it as the end, but a few days after the surgery Christian called and said that he could actually still play. Immediately upon hearing this they booked time in a studio and recorded the day after, and set up a concert the day after that. So then half of the record, which has been Christian Kyhls last and the band Konkyhlies only, is with Christian playing saxophone though breathing through a tube in his throat, but nevertheless playing great!
