Rhythms form paths, both adaptable and responsive, where perception stretches between memory and anticipation.

The arc remains fluid, shaped by change rather than arrival.

OPENING ARCS BY PENDULUM (Benoît Delbecq, Jonas Westergaard, Peter Bruun)

Opening Arcs is an eight-part release cycle by Pendulum, unfolding across eight months starting on 16 May 2026. With the eight offerings, Pendulum presents nearly three hours of music, released piece by piece. Each installment swings on its own, while forming part of a larger structure. As the months pass, the music accumulates into an open body of work. Listeners enter the cycle at different moments and move through it in their own time.

Pendulum is an international trio of singular voices whose mastery of improvisation turns gravity into groove. Benoît Delbecq (piano), Jonas Westergaard (bass), and Peter Bruun (drums) share a deep trust in both compositional structure and improvisational openness. Their music draws on metric relations, shifting balances, and elastic phrasing that allow time to bend and breathe. Unique to Pendulum is the presence of physical pendulums on stage. More than scenography, these oscillating bodies guide the music. The result is new music that, paradoxically, feels familiar: music that sways and breathes, while finding rhythm in the inevitability of motion.

Opening Arcs invites listeners to spend time inside the work. The cycle can be entered at different moments and explored gradually, floating with time, without regard to the clock. No single listen will encounter every detail. Instead, listeners can form their own path through the material, moving between pieces, returning to others, and discovering different connections in their own time.

Pendulum – Opening Arcs (ILK381)

Release schedule:
Arc No. 1 — May 16
Arc No. 2 — June 15
Arc No. 3 — July 14
Arc No. 4 — August 12
Arc No. 5 — September 11
Arc No. 6 — October 10
Arc No. 7 — November 9
Arc No. 8 — December 9

Line-up:
Benoit Delbecq: Piano
Jonas Westergaard: Bass
Peter Bruun: Drums
