ILK has a central position on the Danish and European experimental and improv jazz scene. Years of tons of outstanding releases have resonated worldwide and ILK's music has been reviewed and applauded by national and international media such as Danish Radio (DR), The Wire, DownBeat, BBC Radio, Lira, MOJO, New York City Jazz Record, Jazzthetik, Information, Berlingske and Politiken. With its over 200 releases, ILK has established a clear balanced artistic profile, both nationally and internationally.

ILK is an artist-run label and collective of 25 musicians based in Copenhagen, releasing new music hybrids, avant-, improv- and jazz related sounds by artists acknowledged as innovators on an international scale. The ILK catalogue also highlights a wide range of international collaborations with master musicians such as Paul Bley, Henry Grimes, John Tchicai, Andrew Cyrille, Craig Taborn, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Jeff Ballard, Airto Moeira, Chris Speed, Jon Balke, Gerald Cleaver, Cong Vu, Koichi Makigami, Han Bennink and many more.

Besides releasing over 10 albums every year, ILK has been running and curating its very own exciting Copenhagen Jazz Festival stage for many years. Original line-ups filled with international guests ensure sold out shows at the beloved local venue 5e year after year.

Due to their extensive activities and visionary approach, ILK, as a label and concert organiser, and ILKs as performing and recording artists, have been for years receiving fundings from genre-organisations, music-producer organisations, art-councils, culture-funds, and numerous others music institutions to encourage the production and documentation of their works.
