Mark Solborg

The past years Solborg has worked intensively all over Europe and also in Asia. Recently in Damaskus and EXPO 2010 in Shanghai. His work as a composer and guitarist has been grammy- nominated, awarded by the Danish Arts Agency, the Spanish Ministry of Culture and received wide international acknowlegdement.

Whether dealing with odd-meter grooves, contrapuntal lines, complex harmony or just a couple of simple chords a personal, unpolished and unconventional approach is a cherished ambition and trademark.

His work as guitarist and composer has been praised for great interplay, enthusiastic energy, precise execution of strong themes and taste...

Mark has composed for a large number of contemporary music groups including the nonet Solborg 4+4+1 with Chris Speed, moLd, Solborg 4, Ventilator, Revolver with Mats Eilertsen and Liudas Mockunas, Peter Wessels Polyfonias Poetry Project, Hopscotch with Kevin Brow and Francesco Bigoni, a.o. His compositions also include a number of scores for theater and film. In 2010 the theatre ensemble Flyvende Grise (Flying Pigs) recieved a Reumert Award for Historien om Alt. The documentary One Day by Ditte Haarlev Johnsen recieved two Gulddoks. Recently Mark was commissioned to write for Nordjysk Sinfonietta, a classical decet.
