This album is the culmination of a very successful European tour in November 2007. It is the 10th album from the prolyphic Danish drummer/ rapper/ composer Kresten Osgood. At 31 years of age he has already released albums with such masters as Paul Bley, Sam Rivers, Dr. Lonnie Smith and John Tchicai.
The focal point of the album is the unique instrumentation. The combination of slide trumpet, tuba and the drums has not been heard as a trio before.
The listener of Tattoos and Mushrooms enters a very naked and fresh sound world. The repertoire spans improvised abstraction but also swing and melody. There are Osgood originals and cover by Mingus, Hank Williams, Charles Brackeen and Monk.
