What is ILK!?

ILK is a group of 20 musicians from the Danish jazz-scene that has joined forces to release original quality music.

ILK is a free spirited label reflecting the incomparable and vibrant scene in Copenhagen. ILK represents new music, hybrids, avant-, improv- and jazz- related sounds by artists hailed as innovators on an international scale.

This group of musicians, that in recent years has made a heavy impact on the scene in Denmark, has gathered to make the growing new music more visible and available, also outside Denmark. Musical necessity, collective responsibility and inspiration from all past and present genres are key issues, shared by the ILK ́s.

In a time where most record companies has lost the grip on what is good or relevant, ILK wishes to be a brand of quality, where the buyer can be assured, that the music itself comes directly from the source.

During 2010 ILK proudly released 8 great albums featuring among others Chris Speed, Jacob Anderskov, Mike Formanek, Gerald Cleaver, Stephan Sieben, Adam Pultz Melbye, Håkon Berre, Elena Setien, Lars Skinnebach, Torben Ulrich, Søren Kjærgaard, Laura Toxvaerd, Frederik Thaae, Mikkel Engel Gemzøe, Ben Street, Andrew Cyrille, Sture Ericson, Anders Provis and Simon Toldam.

2011 featured no less than 15 new releases by, among others, Kresten Osgood, Nils Davidsen, Anderskov Accident, Spring, Delirium, Simon Toldam, Mark Solborg, Tom Rainey, IKI, Anders Filipsen, Dygong, Sekten, Søren Kjærgaard, Ben Street, Andrew Cyrille, Mark Solborg, Ed Thigpen etc. etc.  ........

The ILK’s has played venues and international festivals all over the world. Both releases and live ILKing has been praised from Shanghai to Trondheim.
